FIRST STEP

 

You must get Padang and go to Bungus Harbor where the ferry leaves from.

From the Padang Airport to Bungus the price of a taxi is between 180.000-250.000 rp.

Once you get Bungus buy a ferry ticket to MUARA SIBERUT, it costs 90.000 rp. without bed and the ferry leaves on:

 

- Wednesday

- Friday

 

You must be there at 6pm even if the ferry leaves at 8pm. It arrives to Siberut around 10-12 hours later.

 

SECOND STEP

 

Once you get Siberut you have 2 options:

 

• Find transport to reach the small town (it costs between 20.000-50.000 rp per person) and then find somebody to drop you at Nyang Nyang Island and tell them my name. It will cost you between 1.300.000-2.000.000 rp.

 

• Or let me know and my captain will pick you up from the ferry and drop you straight ay my place (stopping at the Police Station on the way to pay the Mentawai Tax) and everything will cost you 1.500.000 rp (max 4-5 people, if you guys are more than that, the speedboat will be bigger and a little bit more expensive) *Once you are at Nyang Nyang Island and you need a speedboat in order to move around the Island seeking surfing spots the prices will be around 1.300.000 rp. per day, there will be many captains around that will offer you a boat, bargain it but the petrol in Mentawai is so expensive because is difficult to get it, so it will not be cheaper unfortunately, you can always share it with more people!!! (EVERYTHING CAN CHANGE, IT DEPENDS ON THE PETROL...)

 

*If you really need, there is a ferry on Monday from a different harbor in Padang, it costs the same but its worse, full of insects and smaller, but anyway arrives in Siberut. Ask me and I'll let you know how to get there.
